THERMORESPONSE AUTOMATIC FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

THERMORESPONSE AUTOMATIC FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

Self-Activating Fire Protection for High-Risk Enclosures

Southpole Firetec Thermoresponse Systems are advanced automatic fire suppression solutions designed to detect and suppress fires rapidly at the source. The systems are self-activating, require no electrical or pneumatic power for operation, and offer simple installation, low maintenance, cost-effective protection, and reliable performance in areas with elevated fire risk.

The system uses a heat-sensitive flexible detection tube that provides both fire detection and suppression activation. When exposed to fire, the section of the tube subjected to the highest temperature ruptures, initiating the release of the suppression agent within seconds.

Direct Thermoresponse System

In the direct system, the flexible tube serves as both the detection device and discharge path. When the tube ruptures at the point of intense heat, it creates a discharge opening and releases the suppression agent directly onto the fire.

Indirect Thermoresponse System

In the indirect system, the flexible tube functions solely as the detection mechanism. Heat-induced rupture causes a pressure drop that activates the valve, releasing the suppression agent through dedicated copper or stainless-steel piping and fixed diffuser nozzles. This configuration is particularly suited to larger protected areas.

Available Suppression Agents

Thermoresponse systems can be configured with commercially available suppression agents, including:

  • Clean agents
  • Wet chemical
  • Foam
  • Dry powder
  • Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (Lithium battery ion fire suppression)

Typical Applications

Southpole Firetec Thermoresponse Systems are particularly suitable for protecting localized high-risk hazards such as:

  • Electrical and control cabinets
  • Electrical enclosures
  • Control panels
  • Machinery enclosures
  • Generator and equipment compartments
  • Specialized industrial equipment
  • Lithium battery ion enclosures
  • Other enclosed high-risk fire hazards

The system is particularly effective for electrical enclosures because detection and suppression occur inside the protected enclosure, helping to contain a developing fire before it spreads to adjacent equipment or the surrounding facility.

Key Benefits

  • 24/7 automatic protection
  • Rapid fire detection and suppression
  • Self-contained operation
  • No electrical or pneumatic power required for activation
  • Simple installation and low maintenance
  • Direct and indirect configurations
  • Flexible and durable detection tubing
  • Compatible with conventional and addressable fire alarm panels
  • Reduced risk of collateral damage from conventional suppression methods
